iPad review

First impressions...

The packaging is immaculate, like any other apple product. Any fanboy or fangirl knows that apple has a knack for great packaging.

The device itself is a little heavier than expected. Mostly I think this is because it is so compact.

The screen is great looking, glossy, large. Still, it is very reflective.

It is blazing fast. Applications load incredibly fast, much better than on the iPhone.

It could probably use a longer charge cord, it really does not allow use while plugged in.

Ipod and movie uses look great, I cant wait to need to use it on a plane.

The lack of flash gets me more than on the iPhone. Maybe because it feels more like a real computer.

iPhone apps look blurry when using the full screen, but are fully functional.

Typing is pretty easy, I'm using the iPad right now.

The imdb, tweet deck, iBooks, and kindle app look great. I'm seriously thinking of investing in the $5 espn app too...though I feel it would be more useful on the 3G model.

iCal and mail look good. Really good. Of course some will still have problems in the mail app because of a slack of a unified inbox. Oh well.

Overall, I'm quite happy with it!

Close of a chapter, start of a new.

2008 is over. The year brought plenty of fun, plenty of good times. It was my first year without school, tests, and everything that goes along with that. It passed by so quickly. This year I rejected the concept of growing up. I decided that life at 23 does not need to be serious, that it can be carefree and just whatever. I let go of a lot of safeties in my life, tried to let go of crutches. In some ways, I really grew up, but in other ways, I think I started acting more my age.

2009 is here. Hopefully it will be full of more good times, fun nights with friends. Success. Accomplishment. Life. Everyday I just try to live life. I want to travel, even if it is just 200 miles. Experience new. I'm ready. Come and get me.

Life...

September is wonderful of course, because it brings my birthday. Went to Howl at the Moon. Nothing better than singing along with the music to bring a smile to my face.  Also went to the aquarium in September, which was quite fun. Overall not a bad month. Went to Florida for my cousin's wedding, which was nice. It was good to see family, etc.

Dirty Sexy Money. Yum.

So I fell in love with this show last season, just to be cut off by the writer's strike. It's worse than being cut off at a bar.  I recently got the last season on DVD and caught up with the goings-on, and fell in love all over again.  Last night was the second season premiere, and it seems that this season will be filled with lots of drama! Exactly what we watch this show for.

Quick how did they get where they are:

Nick- Looking for who killed his dad, he accepts a job with the Darlings.  Spends some time playing Simon Elder (rival billionare) to try to get what he knows.  On going half flirtation with Karen Darling, who still loves him. Spends a lot of time trying to balance his wanting to find out who killed his dad with hating babysitting the Darling Problems, and wanting to use Darling money to do charitable work.

Lisa- Nick's wife, who got sucked into Darling-ness when she helped Jeremy with a girl. He promptly starts to crush on her and they share a kiss. Lisa spends a lot of time worrying about Karen-Nick drama.

Tripp-  Head of the family who finds out that his wife, Leticia, has had a 40 year affair with Nick's now dead dad, who happened to be his best friend and confidant. What? Finds out one of his children is not his. Trying to play Simon Elder with Nick and Karen.  Getting upset as his children's lives start to fall apart. Telling Nick he wants to leave Darling Enterprises to him in the future...uh, you have your own kids?

Letitia- Tish spends time trying to keep her family together, trying to get Patrick to be his own person, helping Karen get Nick, and defending Brian.

Patrick-  Has been having an affair with Carmelita, a transgender woman. Tries to manage that love with his wife who he can't leave because he is running for Senate. The Senate thing is more his dad's deal, but Patrick can't stand up for himself.

Karen- Karen gets married, only to get divorced. Still in love with Nick, she starts seeing Simon Elder. Generally, she is just crazy.

Brian- He's a priest...but not Catholic, because he is married and has two daughters. (What church is that? All the scenes seem Catholic, but...) Oh yeah, and an illegitimate son who he makes lie and say that he is a Swedish orphan. (Really? Swedish?) Obviously, everyone finds out and his wife kicks him out. And he leaves the church to work for his dad.

Juliet- I love Samaire Armstrong! She is an actress who happens to get all her parts because her daddy pays for them. Which she is not happy about.  Her plot lines are side stories, with her hating a girl (Natalie) who used to be her best friend. Natalie goes on to sleep with Jeremy. Ouch. She goes on Karen's honeymoon and brings back a very peaceful man to play with and be her "first."

Jeremy- Juliet's twin brother who jumps from Natalie, to a girl he meets at work, to Lisa. "Work" is a Darling parking garage...the boy is working his way from the bottom up to gain trust.

Haha, I feel like an opening credits clip show. Okay...Premiere time...

We start heading to Nick George's birthday party on a yacht. Nick looks for Lisa (shouldn't he know where she is?). Tripp gives Nick the boat. The police show up???

Heading back two days... Lisa and Nick discuss her wish to do a family thing for his brithday. They plan a dinner together.

Jump over to Patrick and Tripp trying to mend things. Well, kind of.  Ellen Darling seems to have become a complete drunk because of Carmelita. Poor thing. Hopefully she won't shoot Patrick again.

Lisa is being bothered by Jeremy, who is apparently stalking her and her affection. Access denied buddy.  A Vespa? Really Jeremy? Karen Darling and Simon seem happy...of course she is still snooping for Tripp. Wait Simon LOVES her? Uh oh. We know how Karen reacts when someone says the three little words.

Yeah...she shows up to Nick's office and gets naked. Access denied dear. Go Nick.

Brian Jr. yay! Back in NYC with his mom...because apparently Tripp is blocking their Visas to go back to Brazil. I love Brian and his son's interactions, it's the most human he ever is.  Tripp asks Brian to counsel Ellen. And he says no....that can only lead to trouble.

Cut to Ellen and Patrick.  He gets home and she accuses him of looking for Carmelita. Duh. Ellen snoops and finds some paperwork and attacks Patrick in the shower. At least is wasn't a shotgun this time. I guess.  Too bad she slips (drunk people do that) and she craxk her head. Done. I guess  that's one way to get out of a marriage.Patrick calls Tripp who calls Nick.  Oh and somewhere in the middle of that, Jeremy talking to Lucy Liu in a bar, who was waiting for him. Um, okay.

Nick arrives and tells them to call the police. Um, yeah. He leaves. I'm glad he didn't get sucked into that one.

Meanwhile, it's okay with Simon if Karen can't say I love you. He gives Karen something to give to Tripp. I still have no clue if he is good or bad. Actually, I think they are all bad.

Nick is late to dinner, and lo and behold, Jeremy shows up. Lisa and Jeremy get way drunk and stumble out of the restaurant.  Apparently it takes Nick a really long time to get to the restaurant, but he shows up just in time to find the two in a very precarious position. wtg.

Nick goes and talks to Karen, of course. He starts to actually try to kiss her...and she says no? What! Reversal. I guess she really does like Simon.

Go to sleep people, tomorrow will be wonderful. promise.

We see Clark (the driver) the next day, bringing Ellen's body to the country house.  With a lighter. Blah blah, Nick punches Jeremy. You go! Brian finds out that Brian, Jr. and Andrea went back to Brazil, so Brian asks Tripp what happened.  He explains to Brian what happened with Ellen. Yeah, might have been partially your fault Brian.

According to the news, the country house is on fire. Bye bye pretty house.

Karen meets Simon and gives him back the papers. Was that what he wanted or not? Oh, it's what he wanted.

Jeremy with Lucy Liu. Who is she and wtf is she doing? Hmm, that will unravel I'm sure.

Nick, at his party, avoids the press and finds Lisa. They agree to make a mends. Good, I love them together (but where is Kiki?) Sirens and lights and we are back to where we started. Who's being arrested? It has to be Patrick for Ellen right? Or Tripp? Or...Letitia for Nick's dad's death. WHAT?

Okay I can't believe the police even kept investigating.  What happened. Can't wait for next week!  This show is such a primetime soap opera. And it's perfect. I am quite sad that Juliet was not around and there were not any live lions.

Fringe Premiere

Hmmm. This show is kind of confusing. I'm giving it a chance because of JJ Abrams and the casting of Joshua Jackson.  It centers around  Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv) trying to find out how to heal her boyfriend. He's plagued by some sort of crazy toxin and she has to enlist some help to figure out what's going on. She centers in on a man who is in jail and she has to get his son to even go see him. Enter Joshua Jackson/Peter Bishop. She delves into the world of fringe science....but I still don't get it. She has some crazy dream that helps her keep going in her quest.

This show is a little confusing. Abrams said that much more of the character driven part of the show comes out after the pilot episode, so I'll give it another try next week. It helps that it's put with House, because I will definitely be watching that. The sci-fi geek in me is really hoping for a lot out of this show, especially since LOST doesn't come back until february. Here's to hoping!
