Life...

September is wonderful of course, because it brings my birthday. Went to Howl at the Moon. Nothing better than singing along with the music to bring a smile to my face.  Also went to the aquarium in September, which was quite fun. Overall not a bad month. Went to Florida for my cousin's wedding, which was nice. It was good to see family, etc.

Dirty Sexy Money. Yum.

So I fell in love with this show last season, just to be cut off by the writer's strike. It's worse than being cut off at a bar.  I recently got the last season on DVD and caught up with the goings-on, and fell in love all over again.  Last night was the second season premiere, and it seems that this season will be filled with lots of drama! Exactly what we watch this show for.

Quick how did they get where they are:

Nick- Looking for who killed his dad, he accepts a job with the Darlings.  Spends some time playing Simon Elder (rival billionare) to try to get what he knows.  On going half flirtation with Karen Darling, who still loves him. Spends a lot of time trying to balance his wanting to find out who killed his dad with hating babysitting the Darling Problems, and wanting to use Darling money to do charitable work.

Lisa- Nick's wife, who got sucked into Darling-ness when she helped Jeremy with a girl. He promptly starts to crush on her and they share a kiss. Lisa spends a lot of time worrying about Karen-Nick drama.

Tripp-  Head of the family who finds out that his wife, Leticia, has had a 40 year affair with Nick's now dead dad, who happened to be his best friend and confidant. What? Finds out one of his children is not his. Trying to play Simon Elder with Nick and Karen.  Getting upset as his children's lives start to fall apart. Telling Nick he wants to leave Darling Enterprises to him in the future...uh, you have your own kids?

Letitia- Tish spends time trying to keep her family together, trying to get Patrick to be his own person, helping Karen get Nick, and defending Brian.

Patrick-  Has been having an affair with Carmelita, a transgender woman. Tries to manage that love with his wife who he can't leave because he is running for Senate. The Senate thing is more his dad's deal, but Patrick can't stand up for himself.

Karen- Karen gets married, only to get divorced. Still in love with Nick, she starts seeing Simon Elder. Generally, she is just crazy.

Brian- He's a priest...but not Catholic, because he is married and has two daughters. (What church is that? All the scenes seem Catholic, but...) Oh yeah, and an illegitimate son who he makes lie and say that he is a Swedish orphan. (Really? Swedish?) Obviously, everyone finds out and his wife kicks him out. And he leaves the church to work for his dad.

Juliet- I love Samaire Armstrong! She is an actress who happens to get all her parts because her daddy pays for them. Which she is not happy about.  Her plot lines are side stories, with her hating a girl (Natalie) who used to be her best friend. Natalie goes on to sleep with Jeremy. Ouch. She goes on Karen's honeymoon and brings back a very peaceful man to play with and be her "first."

Jeremy- Juliet's twin brother who jumps from Natalie, to a girl he meets at work, to Lisa. "Work" is a Darling parking garage...the boy is working his way from the bottom up to gain trust.

Haha, I feel like an opening credits clip show. Okay...Premiere time...

We start heading to Nick George's birthday party on a yacht. Nick looks for Lisa (shouldn't he know where she is?). Tripp gives Nick the boat. The police show up???

Heading back two days... Lisa and Nick discuss her wish to do a family thing for his brithday. They plan a dinner together.

Jump over to Patrick and Tripp trying to mend things. Well, kind of.  Ellen Darling seems to have become a complete drunk because of Carmelita. Poor thing. Hopefully she won't shoot Patrick again.

Lisa is being bothered by Jeremy, who is apparently stalking her and her affection. Access denied buddy.  A Vespa? Really Jeremy? Karen Darling and Simon seem happy...of course she is still snooping for Tripp. Wait Simon LOVES her? Uh oh. We know how Karen reacts when someone says the three little words.

Yeah...she shows up to Nick's office and gets naked. Access denied dear. Go Nick.

Brian Jr. yay! Back in NYC with his mom...because apparently Tripp is blocking their Visas to go back to Brazil. I love Brian and his son's interactions, it's the most human he ever is.  Tripp asks Brian to counsel Ellen. And he says no....that can only lead to trouble.

Cut to Ellen and Patrick.  He gets home and she accuses him of looking for Carmelita. Duh. Ellen snoops and finds some paperwork and attacks Patrick in the shower. At least is wasn't a shotgun this time. I guess.  Too bad she slips (drunk people do that) and she craxk her head. Done. I guess  that's one way to get out of a marriage.Patrick calls Tripp who calls Nick.  Oh and somewhere in the middle of that, Jeremy talking to Lucy Liu in a bar, who was waiting for him. Um, okay.

Nick arrives and tells them to call the police. Um, yeah. He leaves. I'm glad he didn't get sucked into that one.

Meanwhile, it's okay with Simon if Karen can't say I love you. He gives Karen something to give to Tripp. I still have no clue if he is good or bad. Actually, I think they are all bad.

Nick is late to dinner, and lo and behold, Jeremy shows up. Lisa and Jeremy get way drunk and stumble out of the restaurant.  Apparently it takes Nick a really long time to get to the restaurant, but he shows up just in time to find the two in a very precarious position. wtg.

Nick goes and talks to Karen, of course. He starts to actually try to kiss her...and she says no? What! Reversal. I guess she really does like Simon.

Go to sleep people, tomorrow will be wonderful. promise.

We see Clark (the driver) the next day, bringing Ellen's body to the country house.  With a lighter. Blah blah, Nick punches Jeremy. You go! Brian finds out that Brian, Jr. and Andrea went back to Brazil, so Brian asks Tripp what happened.  He explains to Brian what happened with Ellen. Yeah, might have been partially your fault Brian.

According to the news, the country house is on fire. Bye bye pretty house.

Karen meets Simon and gives him back the papers. Was that what he wanted or not? Oh, it's what he wanted.

Jeremy with Lucy Liu. Who is she and wtf is she doing? Hmm, that will unravel I'm sure.

Nick, at his party, avoids the press and finds Lisa. They agree to make a mends. Good, I love them together (but where is Kiki?) Sirens and lights and we are back to where we started. Who's being arrested? It has to be Patrick for Ellen right? Or Tripp? Or...Letitia for Nick's dad's death. WHAT?

Okay I can't believe the police even kept investigating.  What happened. Can't wait for next week!  This show is such a primetime soap opera. And it's perfect. I am quite sad that Juliet was not around and there were not any live lions.

Fringe Premiere

Hmmm. This show is kind of confusing. I'm giving it a chance because of JJ Abrams and the casting of Joshua Jackson.  It centers around  Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv) trying to find out how to heal her boyfriend. He's plagued by some sort of crazy toxin and she has to enlist some help to figure out what's going on. She centers in on a man who is in jail and she has to get his son to even go see him. Enter Joshua Jackson/Peter Bishop. She delves into the world of fringe science....but I still don't get it. She has some crazy dream that helps her keep going in her quest.

This show is a little confusing. Abrams said that much more of the character driven part of the show comes out after the pilot episode, so I'll give it another try next week. It helps that it's put with House, because I will definitely be watching that. The sci-fi geek in me is really hoping for a lot out of this show, especially since LOST doesn't come back until february. Here's to hoping!

Gossip Girl 2.02- Never Been Marcused

Oh Nate. You have become a male gigolo. I know it's for your mom, but still. She's just ick. Nate+Vanessa please.

Blair and the Lord. Oh Lord.  He is adorable, but still. Blair still loves Chuck. And using the Lord's relationship with Nate to get approval. Yeah, that'll work out well. "Lowly waldorf[????]" Please.

Serena and Dan. Basically they have admitted that they can't keep their hormones from getting in the way. Ick, sad.

Chuck. Oh all that scheming is getting worse and worse for you dear. Every time you plot something, Blair ends up further into her relationship with the Lord. Oh well.

Jenny. Waiting for a plotline.

Rufus...oh Rufus. Being a good dad. And Vanessa is a great friend.

I can't wait for these kids to get back in school! And Lily and Bart to get back.

Gossip Girl 2.01

Oh Gossip Girl. This episode was set in the summer, which just made me wish it was still summer. Quick rundown...

Blair comes back with georgetown/princeton boy. How could he not keep that straight? Anyway, he was cute, but "boring." And turned out to be a lord. Sigh. So lucky that Waldorf girl is. And Chuck's face as he found out the same time as Blair did. Crazy. Anyway, it bothers me that she obviously still likes Chuck, but will be with this guy just to distract herself.

Chuck... just say the dang words!! Even though I don't really like him, I wish that they could get together.

Serena has been using Nate as a cover all summer. And it works. But she still loves Dan. Oh Dan, always so tortured. But they are going to work it out. I hope at least.

Jenny is trying really hard at work, and I'm glad her and Eric made up. He's so nice. Jenny's dress for the white party was so cute, she looked very appropriate.

Nate...wtf are you thinking?

Hopefully next week's episode will have a little more Rufus in it. Overall, not bad.

Master the force I will. Yoda, I love you for teaching America that passive tense can be endearing. I watched Star Wars (A New Hope, if you choose to call it that) last night. Watching Empire Strikes Back tonight. I almost forgot how much I like these movies! I would like a light saber, thanksverymuch.

Five rings.

The Olympics are amazing. Michael Phelps is so crazy. 8 Gold medals in one Olympic Games? I love it. Nastia Liukin, Shawn Johnson, and the U.S. Gymnastics teams (men and women) were great. Besides those two sports (that have gotten tons of coverage), I am highly attached to the results of men's and women's basketball, track and field (finally started!), all four sand volleyball teams, indoor volleyball, and softball.

Television Obsession

The Hills season 4 premiered last night. Admittedly, The Hills is a completely guilty pleasure, because, well because it is the most unreal reality show ever, and is pretty dumb.

Yet, I can't stay away.

Short notes on the Speidi plot line...I don't really care. Heidi is dumb for putting Spencer above work, and Spencer was so rude to her sister. Really, who cares about them?

Lauren goes on a date with Doug Reinhardt, who she knows from back home. He seems nice enough, and cute and all. Then Lo and Lauren throw a b-day party for Audrina, but it isn't really the nice gesture it seems. I mean, if you are throwing a party for someone, you probably shouldn't complain that you aren't having fun becuase you don't know her friends. Then go hide in your room. That is lame.

Lo and Audrina have a talk later, and basically Audrina tells Lo that they will never be friends. End of story. Duh. Even though Lo says she's making an effort, it really seems like she's half-assing it, which makes it worse. I think Lo ever so annoying and is being ridiculous.

Overall, Whitney is still the best person on the show, especially since she amkes the effort not to have too much of her personal life show up (even though we may be seeing a boy in coming eps?!?). Heidi and Spencer is a side story, that has little intersection with the other people on the show. I'm sure that'll change some this season. The Lo, Audrina, Lauren drama is kind of lame, and very high school. Like "I'm her best friend, not you, but I'll pretend to try to be your friend, but you don't like me." BLAH. The episode was kind of boring, but really, these people wouldn't have a show if they weren't pretty anyway. Let's accept it.

Alright, I'm out.

p.s. Got Gossip Girl Season 1 (and will be getting House, M.D. Season 4 later) today.

Had a fabulous time visiting Shanna in DC. Sightseeing. Laughing. Walking. The Metro. Desert, ha. I think the city is lovely. History is wonderful. Makes life feel very small in the scale of things.

Tuesday, July 15, 2008

Made these yesterday from a kit. They're tissue paper. I tried to use my slight memory of my floral design class to make them somewhat eye appealing in the arrangement...but it didn't work.

Goal: litter weekends with things to do.

July 19-20 JKA's b-day and parents visit
July 26-27- San An and drop off Kawaii
July 31-Aug 4- DC
Aug 16- CS

Goal 2: Find a creative outlet.

Goal 3: Successfully make and decorate a cake with fondant.

Happy Birthday America

Photobucket

Spent the weekend in San Antonio. joy. Got a new camera, so that makes me happy. It's pretty and blue. July is looking to be a pretty busy month at work, so the month should pass quickly. Then DC July 31...yay!

Meanwhile, I have big plans to finish watching Ugly Betty Season 1, Sex and the City Season 6, reading Gossip Girl, and re-reading Harry Potter.

I am...

I am a product of my generation.

Photobucket

I need constant entertainment, not content with sitting idle.

I believe that everything should be instant, and I hate to wait.

I can barely remember a time without a computer, cell phone, internet, digital cameras, and all of life's conveniences.

I think that the 80s were a long long time ago.

I've seen every episode of Saved by the Bell, Full House, and Family Matters.

I think that too many people try too hard to be different. So much so that they are all the same.

Photobucket

Blogs are just an everyday thing.

Being materialistic isn't uncommon.

I think that if it's on facebook, everyone should already know.

TV is the new book, and movies are not the same as they once were.

Money is everything, and yet if you have it, it means nothing.

life...exposed

Photobucket

I am completely bored with my life.

I live in Houston. I barely know anyone, and I don't exactly know how to go about meeting people. I'm definitely not a loner. I need people. I'm not brave enough to do things by myself. I spent the day contemplating life, and where it's going. And, no, I don't know. Goals:

Make friends. soon.
be original.
find a purpose.
be a rockstar.

ilu. xoxo.

Another weekend...gone.

Bed

Another weekend, spent in Houston. Doing absolutely nothing. Spent sleeping. Not speaking. Contemplating completely frivolous matters. Craving a social life. And willpower and motivation to be active. Going to San Antonio next weekend for the 4th of July. Hopefully will be much more exciting than staying here. At least I caught up on reading. Listened to Rooney and Oasis and wasted away another 48 hours of life.

Academic Building

Sometimes I miss this place so. much. A place that defined me for four and a half splendid years. Some of the best memories of my life were spent on that campus and the college town that surrounds it. San Antonio will always be home, but that place will always be where my heart is. I miss classes, friends, knowing my way around. So nostalgic.
